As part of the European project “RES-DHC”, the 32 participants informed and discussed the possibilities and approaches for increasing the share of renewable energies in heating networks in Baden-Württemberg during the expert excursion to Freiburg and Riehen on 12 July 2022. The focus of the expert excursion was on municipal heating planning, measures for transforming existing heating grids and the possibilities for tapping the potential of existing geothermal energy via deep geothermal energy in Baden-Württemberg. The practical examples of the city of Freiburg and badenova WÄRMEPLUS complemented the basics conveyed in presentations by KEA-BW and the RES-DHC project partners Solites and AGFW. The highlight of the expert excursion was the visit to the deep geothermal plant in Riehen.

We would like to thank all the speakers for their contributions to the successful event.

Further excursions are planned for 2023 and will be announced in good time on the project website and in the newsletter.
