The system is connected to the district heating network in the city of Turin, owned by Gruppo Iren which is as project partner of RES-DHC part of the Italian model region.<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The system is part of the transformation and decarbonisation process of Gruppo Iren and represents an example of full sustainability and avoids emissions into the atmosphere of approximately 8.000 tons of CO<sub>2<\/sub> per year.<\/p>\n<p>Key facts:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a solar thermal system with a nominal power of 411 kW<\/li>\n<li>a rooftop photovoltaic system with a nominal power of 45 kW<\/li>\n<li>three thermal energy storage tanks for a total volume of approximately 2,500 m\u00b3<\/li>\n<li>a pumping station for the supply of stored heat to the district heating network<\/li>\n<li>DH network serves about 71 million m\u00b3 through 700 km of double pipes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=1OfmrcUGzQg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">video<\/a> and a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ireninforma.it\/nuovo-impianto-iren-a-mirafiori-nord\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">press release<\/a> present the project and provide further information (in Italian).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4416 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.res-dhc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Mirafiori.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"732\" height=\"319\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Text and pictures: Iren<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A new heat storage system, in the area of the former Mirafiori Nord plant in Turin (Italy), was inaugurated at the end of March.
